About Justin Craig Education

Justin Craig, and the concept of Easter Revision, was established in 1981 by Marilyn Craig. Having done some private tuition around the kitchen table, she was asked by more and more students for exam revision coaching until she ran out of time. 

Then a small group of students asked her to help them as a group – this was so successful, far more effective than one-to-one tuition and much less expensive for the students.

Many requests from parents ‘at the school gates’ were received to organise small group tuition in a variety of subjects paving the way for Justin Craig revision courses.

Tens of thousands of students have since attended our revision courses in order to prepare for, and maximise, their performance in their GCSE, AS and A2 exams.

Justin Craig continues to be passionate about revision and is committed to continually improving the quality and accessibility of our revision courses for all our students.

Besides increasing the number of Easter Revision Centres, in response to popular demand, we have also introduced several new courses to meet the changing needs of our students and to reflect the annual public examination cycle. These include Christmas/ New Year revision, Easter Revision, May Half Term Revision and May Day Weekend Revision.

Excellent tutors:

The cornerstone of our business! All of our revision tutors have demonstrated their ability to combine expert subject knowledge with excellent communication skills. Equally importantly, all of our tutors share our passion for revision and desire to support and ensure all of our students achieve the best examination grade they are capable of.

Guaranteed small class sizes: Excellent tutors can only do their best work if they have quality time with their students. We therefore aim to have a maximum class size of nine students – although this is often smaller, especially with some AS and A2 level subjects.

Study time:

All Justin Craig modules include 18 hours of study time, all of which is with their tutor in the classroom. We believe it is important not to dilute the students’ revision time and therefore their experience, by including exam tests, workshops or lectures. Our determination to remove any barriers to learning even extends to our tutors, and so we work hard to ensure our tutors only do what they are best at – teach!

Student led:

We believe it is important that our students feel able to influence what their revision programme includes. Whilst it would be easier to ask our tutors to deliver a standard revision programme, we believe it is important that students focus on revising the topics they most need, rather than what is convenient to teach.

Not school!:

Many of our students tell us that they engage in our revision courses, not just because our tutors are necessarily better than their own teachers at school, but because the Justin Craig experience is different to their every day school one.

All of our lessons are informal with tutors and students all being on first name terms – with sweatshirts and jeans being common place. The phrase ‘a change is as good as a rest’ is certainly true when it comes to Justin Craig courses.

Competitive prices:

Our priority is ensuring we provide a quality revision experience for all of our students; this will never change! We do however recognise that our parents also expect value for money.

We are one of the most competitive providers of revision course or exam support in the UK, and with the average price of tuition being approximately £17.50 per hour, we believe this represents excellent value for money, particularly when given that small group tuition (as small group dynamics are very effective in helping learning!) can often be more effective than a private tutor.
