Tougher exams in future as Easter revision courses approach
Students contemplating booking on to an easter revision course to prepare for summer GCSEs and A levels will be interested to learn that education leaders want to make exams harder in future.
England's new exams watchdog, the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual), is currently pressing for A levels to be reviewed and made tougher.
Ofqual's acting chief executive, Isabel Nisbet, said the A level - also known as Advanced level - should be "recalibrated".
Altering thresholds for exam grades would make it more difficult to achieve the various grades such as A, B or C.
Debate and criticism of A levels and the quality of attainment that they now represent has been rumbling on for some years.
Seen as the de facto intellectual and academic standard for students seeking entrance to university, the standards achieved by students studying A levels are continually being questioned.
Ms Nisbet said, "I think the question that should be asked is whether the exam should be recalibrated - although that would mean the qualification wouldn't be comparable to what had gone before."
Easter revision courses run by Justin Craig enable students to be well prepared for a full range of subjects - often boosting grades higher - no matter how hard they become.
Remember: One course runs over three days. However, two consecutive courses run over six days at a day centre and five at a residential centre. Three courses run over nine days at a day centre and seven at a residential centre. This is because there are evening classes at residential centres.
