Parents asked to consider enrolling students onto Easter revision courses

Parents, as well as students, often worry about the summer exam season, so it is well worth considering enrolment on GCSE and A level Easter revision courses.

Revision tips to complement revision courses

To complement the courses, Justin Craig has drawn up a range of useful guidance for caring parents who would like to help their children prepare for this important time of their lives.

• Allocate sufficient space at home for exam revision - desk space for working and studying, and shelf space for notes and books.
• Take regular, enjoyable breaks between short periods of revision. Study for no longer than 90 minutes.
• Ensure revision is a regular, normal activity at home.
• Provide assistance during revision times if called upon - be available, even if only for moral support. Listen and respond to any problems, as appropriate.
• Encourage students to post study notes, timetables and revision work all around the home. This can be on the back of room doors as well as notice boards.
• Sleep and nutritious food are a priority to ensure young people are rested and alert for each revision day with plenty of energy to tackle hours of studying.

Selecting Easter revision courses - and courses throughout the year

Remember: One course runs over three days. However, two consecutive modules run over six days at a day centre and five at a residential centre. Three courses run over nine days at a day centre and seven at a residential centre. This is because there are evening classes at residential centres.
