A level exam revision for students after GCSE studies

Further education studies after GCSEs and A level exam revision

After completing GCSE examinations, further education can be essential for many careers and professions and enrolling on A levels is often the best option. Then before you know it, it will be time to think about A level exam revision.

Signing up for higher education can increase prospects and help students develop a more competitive edge in today's world of work.

Some 400,000 students registered at higher education colleges in 2008; choosing courses that provide them with opportunities to study preferred courses and make new friends.

Not surprisingly, A level entrants report that standards for the higher qualification are more demanding.

Studying for A level exams after GCSE

In an article in The Times newspaper, a student indicated that when two hours additional study was required each week for GCSE learning, passes at A level tend to require at least five hours intensive study.

The female student interviewed in the paper said 800-word essays at GCSE were replaced with 2000-word compositions at A level. Studying English language and literature at A level was a difficult switch with GCSE A* essays dropping now to Cs and Ds.

She said the higher standards required in further education has forced her to become more motivated, to make improvements and to challenge herself. The additional heavier workload has shocked her peers.

She said, "Many people say that the jump between GCSE and A level is a lot more difficult than that of A level and degree."
